I'm mourning Best Mate and having some cider.

So far I've tried:

- a bottle of Mr Whitehead's Boxing Dog (which I thought I read about on here. Did one of you try it at a beer fest or something?). It was a pale colour, more like Copella apple juice, and (to my uncultured palate) a thin and almost unpleasantly acidic taste

- a bottle of Dunkerton's Black Fox. Like each of the last few bottle of this cider, it has a definite sulphur smell.

Has anyone else tried these, and did they find them as disappointing as me, or is it the grief souring my tastebuds?

Mr Whiteways Boxing Dog is discussed here: http://www.hannahmorezider.co.uk/new_forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1018&whichpage=2 where i described it as "actually pretty good" although i cant really remember now, no-one else seemed to like it much.

I think i had Dunkertons Black Fox about a year ago and liked that too, it was some Dunkertons of some kind and came from a Fresh & Wild store. It was quite dark and a bit syrupy from what i remember, not sure if its the same one, and maybe it has changed anyway, lots of good ciders seem to have gone over to the orange side in recent years.
