Posted - 29/09/2004 : 09:23:37 Steve Fey has been sacked by Clevedon Town after 12 years in charge just a few hours before their game with Cinderford last night. Peter Beadle put in temporary charge for the game which they win, while they now look for a new manager.
Mavis the Donkey already linked with the job.

HODGES IS NEW CLEVEDON BOSS Next Story | Previous Story | Back to list
11:00 - 05 October 2004 Kevin Hodges will today be unveiled as Clevedon Town's new manager. Hodges succeeds Steve Fey, who was sacked last week after more than 11 years in charge of the Southern League club.
The former Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United manager will sign a contract at The Hand Stadium today and is expected to take charge of first-team affairs when Town take on Taunton in a Somerset Premier Cup tie at Wordsworth Drive tomorrow.
Since leaving Argyle four years ago, Hodges has been working as Wolves' scout in the South West, a position he will now relinquish.
But he will continue to work as chief development officer for the Somerset Football Association.
Clevedon owner Barry Bradshaw said: "We are delighted to welcome new manager Kevin Hodges to Clevedon Town.
"He has tremendous football management experience which we feel could really benefit the club.
"We're also hoping his experience as a Development Officer for the Somerset FA can help us as we look to further develop Clevedon Town's community involvement, having achieved FA Charter status."
Hodges accepted the job after being approached by Bradshaw "out of the blue".
He said: "I'd missed the day-to-day involvement of club football and this was an opportunity to get back into that environment.
"I'd thought about going for the Exeter City job, but I was impressed by what I'd seen of Clevedon in the past. I'd worked with their youth and women's teams as part of the FA's Chartered Standard Award and knew that the ground was among the best in the region.
"They also seem to be financially sound and play at a decent level of football. From what I've seen already, they have the potential to go up to the next level."
And Hodges admits he sympathises with his predecessor at The Hand Stadium.
He said: "Steve had given so many years of loyal service that it must have come as a bit of a shock when he went.
"It's sad when these things happen, but Barry decided he wanted a change and now it's my job to take the club forward."

Posted - 05/10/2004 : 11:03:28 Kevin Hodges? - no one saw that one coming. I think Dennis Smith never came out of the traps, and Bobby fell at the last... the bookies would be paying out at 50-1, but no-one made a bet !
There's alot of bitter people on their website, actually quite interesting.

Posted - 05/10/2004 : 10:09:45 Kevin Hodges is due to be named as Clevedon manager according to the Evening Post today. He has previously been manager of Plymouth and Exeter, and then was Somerset Football Development Officer. Their website has not even reported this yet, ours is so much better its unbelievable.

Posted - 30/09/2004 : 15:34:40 Strong rumours all over the web today that Bobby Gould quit as Peterborough assistant manager at half-time last night to take over at Clevedon. This would add to his previous roles at Rovers, Wales and Portishead, surely confirming him as the nation's (or at least nailsea's) most hated football manager?

Posted - 29/09/2004 : 16:13:23 I heard from someone who was at the Clevedon game last night that all the talk was of Dennis Smith taking over. Bit weird as he is currently Wrexham manager, but I think he still lives locally from his time at City, so maybe he's just had enough of managing the taffs and fancies something more local. |
