| The only tear I was shedding was for European football. Liverpools progress in the Champions league is a damning indictment of the state of the worlds favorite sport. It's a crying shame that one of the sides competing in the best club competition in world has one decent player and the rest are, at best, average. Lets all pray that whoever faces liverpool in the final is able to play the game the way it should be played, and is not bored into submission by the negativity liverpool have shown in the Champions league so far this season! |

Nick, unlike yourself, and almost every liverpool fan i've ever met, I do not I do not live in the past. I will freely admit that over the last few years Everton have been a poor side, and its only this year, through hard work and a good team spirit, that things have turned around. It's not pretty, but the system works.
Liverpool fans on the other hand, year after year after year, delude themselves that they are still one of the best sides in the world as they were in the 1970s, and that 'this will be the year'.
Look at the evidence: In the premiership this season liverpool have had another average year, drawing with sides like spurs (sorry Smithy) and losing to the likes of Crystal Palace and, oh yes, EVERTON. Yet in the Champions league, after being 4 mins away from being knocked out, Liverpool have played a very negative, defenseive style just like.... you've guessed it EVERTON.
School of Science it may not be, Ships, but its not rocket science either! |

OK, so i am a Liverpool fan, but i am very much more reserved than my fellow supporters. But, i am glad it was Liverpool who progressed instead of Chelsea as it is a good to see the Trophies or chance of Trophies split amongst a few English teams and not just one - ie; Chelsea Prem League Cup, Liverpool in the European Final and either Man U or Arsenal in the FA Cup.
It is better this way than the year when Man U won all 3 major trophies. |

Don't forget the 80's pal and although we haven't won the league since 1990 we have still won lots of silverware since then. The FA Cup x2; UEFA Cup; European Super Cup; League Cup x3. Remind me again of the great achievements of the blue and white s**te?
Anyway i'm not living in the past, its all about the 25th May...

But I do agree with what you are saying...

I wasn't trying to belittle the achievements of Spurs this year Tone. I Hate to admit it but you do play some good stuff. I was merely pointing out how average Liverpools domestic season has been. Again!
Shippers, hate to point it out, but the 80s is still in the PAST, and Mickey Mouse competitions do not count!!! |

Its strange that teams with little ability have been able to do so well in the Champions League the last 2 years.
Porto's performance this season has shown that their victory last season was a fluke, and this season there is now a real chance that the trophy could be won by a team not even good enough to qualify for next season's competition.
But better the trophy comes to England than Italy, who are lucky that any of their teams are allowed into Europe next year, so we must grudgingly support Liverpool.
People talk a lot about Mickey Mouse competitions, but has he actually ever sponsored a cup outside of Florida? |

Well, Well, Well, The Offical governing body of European football, Sky Sports, have proved that Luis Garcias' strike did not cross the line (Something that all objective football fans already knew!).
By now tho I'm sure all those delueded Liverpool fans out there are convinced that the ball practically burst the back of the net, and that they spent the rest of the game playing champaign football whilst camped in the Chelsea half! |

I would like to say a big congratulations to Mr Shipway.
2 days ago only a few of us hated liverpool with a passion. But now in world record time he has managed to make liverpool the most hated club in the world with his silly comments....
