From efestivals today:

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis spoke last night at the Oxford Union, and gave away a little of who is playing this summer.

He confirmed that Paul McCartney is booked for the Saturday night - the booking having been made on the Tuesday straight after last years festival.

He said that James Brown is booked and really wants to do it. Christie Moore has also been booked. The Kings of Leon have been booked for the Support slot on the Friday night.

He also said he's waiting to hear from The Strokes, who he really wants to play, and he's in talks with Oasis but they've not been confirmed (despite trying for over 3 months), and Noel rang him personally. Emily Eavis meanwhile is in negotiations with Keane.

He did say said he'd take the Red Hot Chili Peppers if they ever asked to play, but thought they were more for 14 year olds (he may have a point!).

I hope thats Roy, not Robbie.

Can't be believe no-one asked about the Wurzels.

Otherwise I'd say it sounds alright, but not in the same league as last year - McCartney & Brown should be on in the afternoon not headlining.

But if the cider's still flowin' and the fire's still glowin' then I'm still goin'.

Its a weird one. I don't think James Brown will headline sunday tho, he'll probably be on about 3 from the end.

McCartney will present a new challenge to just how far we can take the heckling i think, as people will get offended really easily by the slightest comments i reckon.

Seems unlikely the RHCP will play, they probably would have approached Eavis when they were booking the rest of their summer tour if they wanted to. Sunday night would be the only night they could do now aswell.

Possibly Oasis or Strokes for Friday night then, that would be preety good.

I remember we had a beatles tribute band at uni, shortly after Linda McCartney died, and the abuse a man pretending to be Paul McCarney got was frightening. What it would be like a glasto after a few thatchers I hate to think. Hopefully there'll be something good like a fire show on elsewhere so the enjoyment of others is not spoiled. I think every year the worse thing about glasto is scousers, can you imagine what it'll be like this time.

I'm definitely not missing that fire show this year, dont care what music is on, especially from whats been rumoured so far.
Can't see how the strokes could headline when they couldnt manage to put together a one hour show on their tour. If oasis are playing i hope that isnt too publicised before tickets are sold, as otherwise it will attract idiots (different sort of idiots to us).

I agree with Eavis' comments about the Chilli Peppers - they are playing Millenium Stad on the wednesday night, but anyone who also wants to be on the firebus better think again cos we'll already be there!

Another Idea! Maybe we could have a Glastonbury Line-Up Predictions contest? Everyone who buys a ticket for the coach could enter, and the winner could get a bottle of cider paid for by any excess coach money maybe? What do you reckon Jim?

It'd be pretty easy as the line-up was published last year on May 30th, and before that efestivals had loads of bands confirmed (as we will this year by stealing the info). We could get people to predict what the best band would be, subject to the judgement of the bus committee? And they can have some egg cider on the coach on the way home.

aH But they would have to give their entries before this, when they bought tickets, a deadline of 1st May perhaps? Efestivals only ever have "to be confirmed" for bands they are pretty certain will play, and these don't often specify a day. Plus, we know about efestivals and not everyone else who will be getting the coach does - so it gives us an unfair advantage of winning the cider ourselves!

How about they gotta predict the following for each day:

- Pyramid Headliners
- Pyramid Support (2nd-to-last band on)
- Other Stage Headliners
- Performance of the Day (as voted for by camping commitee)

Points scored by:
Correct Prediction = 10 points
Correct slot, but wrong day = 5 points
Band are appearing, but at completely different time/stage = 3 points
Correct prediction, but you have guessed The Stereophonics = minus 20

Could you not just throw them off the coach for mentioning the Stereophonics?
