So with 5 sendings off in their last 2 games against Nailsea, what is the cause of Portishead's problems? Is it that they get too wound up for the big occasions and can't handle the pressure? Or does Nailsea's greater talent leave them with no option but to get nasty? Or have they just been victims of poor refereeing? |

Possibly a combination of all three. There was certainly a fair amount of poor refereeing in the recent game, but Nailsea have been a victim of that aswell. |

My view was that there was always an inflamatory atmosphere that wasn't helped at all by some very poor refereeing and him being far too keen to go to his top pocket on a number of occassions. Unfortunately that was all overshadowed for me by the unpleasant language that the Welsh brought to the family atmosphere of Stade de Grove.
Does Horse have a Posset perspective on the game for us?

damn right, the refereeing was laughable from start to finish. Almost like the league told the ref to stamp out everything early doors and be strong. Unfortunatly as there wasnt really a bad tackle all game he must have confused being strong with card happy t*sspot as most if not all were needless.
draw probably a fair result |

I agree a draw was probably fair, we had chances, and probably the best of the game when Al Powell hit the bar, but I thought you had quite a few good chances second half that you were unlucky not to convert. As for the reds, I don't think taking a swing at someone, connecting or not, is excusable and I think he was right to be sent, and I didn't really see your second too well. But our two seemed to be reasonably inoccuous incidents that didn't really warrant the yellows they got. Lucas probably deserved his 2nd for pushng your guy over I suppose, but Jim Lee was very unlucky and that terrible dive from your 6

TO be honest a feel that a draw was the right result....the highlight of the game was the great atmosphere that fans created on the sidelines.......One of the loudest cirus chant's for ages!!!..... 14 sending off's in the last 5 fixtures just does show what this games means to both sets of players.......roll on next season..

Where did you get your numbers from Smithy? I make it 12 sending offs in the last 4games, average of 3per game.
The last time there was not a sending off was at Bristol Rd in the 2002/03 season where Nailsea won 2-1.
To add to this there were 2 Reds at Coleridge Vale, the league's crappest pitch/set-up, where Nailsea Utd reserves equalised in the 14th minute of injury time, and 2 Clevedon players saw Red in the finally that followed.
If you like a ruck, try Reflex on a Sunday night. They have had fights at closing for the last 3 consecutive weeks.
