Tin man has to go. I thought he was the answer but he has no idea at all. I am so fed up with watching this so called team turn up with no f**king idea or passion. Luke Wilkshire has been the most creative player this season but tin wont play him anymore. Murray is a complete waste of space. Brooker and lita have no chance with the s**t service they get. Yesterdays team: Phillips - What a tw*t this guy is. Cant kick,Catch or make a decision. Ireland - Not convinced yet, but come into the team at such a low point its hard to tell. Fortune - Left to mark both right midfield and right back. Put him in the centre where he has done a good job. Carey - Same as every game he's played for city, dodgy at back with good runs into opposition half. Smith - Passion with very little else. Tinman - Time to go on and off the pitch Murray - GO S.Brown - great player in the centre of park but not a left winger. Orr- Quality Brooker / Lita Both dangerous but need some decent service.
This season just goes from bad to worse. Tommy has been Cr*p all season but we cant let good players go. Its a real shame whats happening with the club. Tinman has been and always will be a hero of mine, but the club has to look forward. If he stay's i hope he proves me wrong. It will be impossible to get a new manager in with the same passion as tinman has for city. I would like an experienced manager to come in with tinman as his number 2. This is the lowest i've ever felt about a city team.

Its hard to believe the team that has come 3rd twice running now looks unlikely to make the playoffs, but then its starting not to look like the same side any more. Yet the only negative change from last season was Carey going, and now he's back. If we'd had Lita in this season's form + Brooker & Heff last season we'd have won the league by miles. But the problem has been the likes of Coles & Tommy obviously don't like playing for their former team-mate, Tinman doesn't mind who he upsets as long as its not his Best Man Murray or Bell. He clearly has no clue what formation he wants to play, and ideas about players seem to change week on week. Ronnie Moore is available and got a far worse team than ours out of this division, lets gt him now and start building for next year. |

What more did you expect from Phillips on friday??? The goal, he had no chance! In fact he hasnt made to many mistakes this year anyway! If their have been these have been outweighed by some of the exceptional saves that have kept us in games. Apart from that i totally agree, Murray especially, I think his mind is somewhere else!

Phillips has never been able to kick. He's not the sharpest tool in the box you try and teach the bloke how to play Killer with a dart board, thick as sh*t. |

What does his IQ matter anyway?? All that matters to me is his goalkeeping attributes and they have been spot on this season! There is no way you can place the blame on him for Cities bad performances! |

I think he can play well, from time to time, but he certainly cannot kick and he's probably not quick minded. There are mountains of problems than just Phillips nobody can just blame him.
Just found this, everyone sounds pissed off.

There has also been no news on the city site for a couple of days? Emergency talks maybe!!!

Phillips for me has made to many c*ck ups. He has no comunication with his defence and time again he puts us in trouble with his catching.

cock ups???? - Could you name some for me please? And then just look at the amount of saves hes made, which other keepers wouldnt, which have kept us in matches! I think hes been one of our most consistent performers this year, and thats consistently good. I think the problem is the dire defence which puts us in a crisis from set pieces. Longy. |

OK, you wanted a rant!
This is lowest I've ever felt about City too I think. While we shuffled out of the ground Friday I saw season tickets flung on the floor - with 6 home games left - thats how bad it was, and that sums up how optimistic of improvement people who have seen the recent run of dismal performances is feeling.
Tinnion certainly looks like he's lost the plot. There is no questioning that he is passionate about the club, but lately this may have even been hampering him in as much as he looks so desperate to put things right he doesn't seem to be thinking rationally. Giving Scott Brown his debut on the left wing (when he's a central midfielder), and supporting him with a very inexperienced central defender playing at left-back behind him is just one of many baffling recent decisions.
Also I think his job has been made difficult this year due to the main reasons - Players not wanting to play for him - there was obviously I lot of reluctance from some players to him becoming manager at first, this was clear from early performances - after the first lot of show-down talks things seemed to improve but obviously there are still some players who have a problem with him. Players looking after themselves - hard to tell just how bad the drinking/drugs/gambling/etc culture is among some groups of players at the club but there is obviously some type of problem there. Some of our best players haven't been performing anywhere near their best for one or both of the reasons above, Tins has tried to do something about it - exactly what its hard to tell - but the last few weeks events seem to indicate he has run out of ideas there too. Again that situation looks desperate.
Looking at the signings he has made too. At first they looked spot on - Brooker, Heff, S.Brown, Orr, Smith - all very good additions to the squad. But lately we've had Dinning (very rash signing, he didn't do much to impress on loan and has looked complete crap since), Ireland (first he's coming, then we don't want him, then he's back. whats goin on?) and most desperate of all. Carey! Desperate actions again.
Im not blaming Tins for all this, but I think what he has desperately needed in all of these situations is an experienced No.2 - someone from outside the Club who could have come in to give a fresh perspective on what is wrong at Ashton Gate, someone who could put some level-headed and calmer input into recent decisions / signings / formations / dealings with players/media etc, and most importantly someone who has dealt with difficult players who aren't performing before and can bring some discipline to the lazy chav ponces and give them a kick up the arse. Who has Tinnion got to consult now? All the coaches we have are ex-players with no experience, apart from Thawthrop who has been here longer than the Dolman stand - what advice are they giving and do the players who are taking the piss listen to and respect them?
I really think we need someone in from outside the club to come in and shake things up, but Im not sure if we can do this without losing Tinnion or not. It should have been done at the start of the season (nothing against Millen but he just isn't what we needed), can we bring someone in now to work with Tinnion without undermining his position? Would anyone suitable want to come in and be his number 2? Maybe he will have to go, but I'll feel sorry for him if he does, he's taken on a tough job with not much support and high expectations to succeed when he could have just taken the easy option and walked off with his City hero status in tact.
Yesterday Tinnion retires from playing and the City forum is full of comments like "good, get lost, now quit as manager too" rather than thanking him for 12 years great service from one of the best players we've had in recent years. That’s a shame.
As for Phillips – brilliant shot-stopper, great at one-on-ones and has kept us in many games the last few years… but the amount of stupid mistakes he has made that have cost us crucial goals is inexcusable! His usual problem is failing to claim easy crosses that any other keeper in the league would get no problem. There are too many to list (and I try and shut them out of memory!) but the Chesterfield one is most recent mistake, at least 1 of the goals against Luton (may have even been both), Phillips and Matt Hill gawping at each other and letting Swindon score their first, and going back to last season I remember him costing us the game against Luton away (we would have gone up if we'd got 3 points there). New Keeper would be the first thing I would have bought as manager!
End of rant.

Well it was a lot better than recent home games. We looked hungrier and more direct and decisive going forward, and the really encouraging thing was that the new spark we seemed to have was inspired by the young players coming in - Cotterill and Scott Brown are going to be great players for us. We played some nice stuff and obviously it was great to win 5-1...
...but it could have been a different story. Our defence (well Coles/Carey/Phillips really) was very dodgy, failing to deal with balls into the box time and time again. They gifted a chance to Oldham just before half-time when the score was 2-0 that they really should have taken, then the game could have been changed completely. As it happened we got our 3rd shortly after and that really finished things, but we still faffed around at the back throughout the second half and they should have scored a few more. Phillips just stood there gawping for their goal when he could have made an easy catch, to be fair to him he made some good one-on-one saves later on when put in trouble by Coles & Carey, but he shouldn't have had to. This story at least confirms Tinnion is aware of these problems and is doing something about it, cos our Central Defenders aren't up to the job: http://www.bcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10327~630913,00.html
