To be honest Ships, what does that stupid dutch c**t know about English football history. Chelsea now think that they are above the law. I think that they should have there champs league place taken away and given to Liverpool.....

Ok i got carried away, I dont want liverpool to have it!!

All Chelsea want are the best people they can get. If the best people (Like Arnesen, or Gerrard) happen to be wasting time at little clubs like spurs or liverpoo, you can't have a go at them for wanting to go to chelsea.

Little club? 'European Champions' - are the words you were looking for I think!

Also, where have you been the last few weeks? Still hiding in that hole you dug?

Gerrard isn't going anywhere and he certainly doesn't want to be a Chelski rent boy.

European Champions you may be, but i think this season has proved that the champions league isn't the competiton it once was. In fact it's verging on becoming a bit of a mickey mouse tournament, something that liverpool have always be good at!

Chelsea may have loads of money, but they've also got the players, and manager, to be competitive on all fronts for a whole season. All liverpool seem able to do is to play reasonably well for the 15 or 20 games of a cup competition.

I agree with you Phil. But it is the way they go about getting the people. There are rules which you have to stick to and Chelsea seem to think they are above it. It is not good for the game and they seem to get away with murder.

These two tapping up cases seem a bit dodgy to me. First Ashely Cole approaches Chelsea about a possible move, and yet Chelsea get a fine, and then Chelsea make an offical approach to spurs about Frank Spencer, and then Spurs are accusing them of tapping up again!

I think that the FA are jealous of the money Chelsea have got, and that spurs are just jumping on the band wagon.

This case is not as underhand as the Ashley Cole one.

Ashley Cole had the 'secret' meeting and got caught out, we all know the basics.

This time Chelsea have written to Spurs request permission to talk to Frank Spencer and copied him in on the letter. Not in the same league. Think the press are just pouncing as it is topical.

It is still against the rules. Chelsea broker the rules and that is a fact and you cannot argue with that.

Fair enough there were no secret meetings but the fact that Frank was copied in on the letter meant he knew about the approach before spurs had time to refuse permision to speak to him. That is an illegal approach - FACT...

All they were doing is giving the poor bloke a chance to get away from Tottenham, and for this act of huminatarian kindness they are now in trouble.
As for the Champions League, I think its value was shown last year when a great team like Porto won it. TNS of Wales are probably being a bit hasty trying to chuck away their place, the way the competitions going they might be in with a chance of winning it.

Okay so the approach was slightly dodgy, but i still feel that Spurs are using this to their own advantage. If they wanted to keep Arnesen they would not have suspended him. Instead, they realised they can't keep him so have complained to the press about an illegal approach. Rather than look for Justice to be done, in terms of Chelsea being docked points, or fined etc, Spurs are looking to swap Arnesen for players!! In my opinion, that is worse than any alleged taaping up!

Chelsea need to be taught a lesson which means docking points as it is obvious that money is no problem to Chelsea.

Some of your comments about the champions league (European cup) are comical.

The start Champions league still contains the best sides in Europe, and it isn't until the quarter finals that it becomes a knockout competition, which means that luck plays a bigger part in games.

So from the comments so far, the general consensus is that...

Liverpool are the champions of a Micky Mouse trophy.
Everton were so desperate to be part of the Micky Mouse league.
TNS are better than Bristol City.

I know technically that Chelsea have broken the rules again but I think the rules are rubbish in this case. It's arguable that you shouldn't be able to approach players because they have a market value which can be affected if they only want to go to one club. But for Directors I don't see why real world rules don't apply. People get headhunted all the time to go to better jobs at better companies, I don't see how this is any different. There wouldn't have been any sort of transfer fee for Arnesen so what is the issue?

Tottenham are not now, never have been and never will be a 'top
Premiership team'.

Strictly speaking, they are not in the Champions League.
They have an opportunity to play in the Champions league by playing in qualifying matches.
The only British teams which are in the Champions League, are Chelsea and Arsenal. The rest have to qualify.
